‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 11 Premiere Spoilers: Meredith Grey Faces Life Without Yang

Fans are just one day away from the Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 premiere, and there are new spoilers out for those that cannot wait until tomorrow. According to TV Line, Meredith Grey will have a lot to deal with when the new season begins on Thursday night.

Grey’s Anatomy ended Season 10 with the departure of Cristina Yang. Fans knew of Sandra Oh’s departure since before Season 10 began, but it was still not an easy exit for fans of the series. The exit will not be easy for Meredith, either. Cristina Yang was one of the last remaining original characters on the series. Meredith Grey and Alex Karev, who are played by Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers, are the only characters left from the original set of interns who started on Grey’s Anatomy.

With Yang’s departure, Meredith will need someone new to lean on. She will turn to Alex Karev, and this will cause some problems for Jo. Alex and Jo reached a good place at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 10, but Jo’s jealous side will show up this season. Camilla Luddington did reveal some details about the couple and Meredith’s friendship with Karev.

“Jo’s never actually witnessed the depth of that relationship before, how with that gang there really were no boundaries, so she sees that and is taken aback. She’s jealous and she doesn’t know what to do.”

Meredith will need to lean on Alex a lot after Yang’s exit. The Grey’s Anatomy finale showed Meredith and Derek fighting over a move to Washington D.C. after he was offered a job there. Meredith stood up for herself and told him her life was in Seattle. This will cause problems for the couple.

However, this is not the only problem Meredith will face this season. At the end of the Grey’s Anatomy finale, Richard found out that Yang’s replacement was his daughter and Meredith’s sister. Meredith will learn that fact herself this season, but that reveal will not come during the season premiere. Kelly McCreary revealed that Maggie will not drop that bombshell on Meredith until she is settled into her job at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. A sneak peek for the Grey’s Anatomy episode shared by the Grey’s Anatomy Facebook page shows Meredith and Maggie having an intense argument.

It is clear from that scene that Meredith and Maggie will not get along well. Will that change once Meredith knows Maggie is her sister?

The Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 premiere is titled “I Must Have Lost It On the Wind.” The episode will pick up the day after Yang’s departure, so fans will not miss a moment of Meredith’s angst over the exit of her best friend from the hospital.

As for Ellen Pompeo, she might be ready to give up acting completely once Grey’s Anatomy is over. The Inquisitr previously reported that the actress revealed she was ready to step back from acting. She signed a two-year contract for the series earlier this year.
