George Clooney Is Totally Paying For His Own Wedding… Because He Can
George Clooney is footing the enormous bill for his upcoming wedding to Amal Alamuddin as many people believe he should. Despite earlier reports that George’s fiancee’s parents were paying for the extravagant nuptials (which are reportedly taking place in Venice, Italy, next weekend), the truth is that the actor is shelling out the dough. Sources confirmed the news to Gossip Cop, saying that he wouldn’t saddle Amal’s parents (her mother is a journalist and her dad is a retired professor) with that kind of burden. You know, since he’s a millionaire and what not.
According to The LA Times, George isn’t holding back. Rumor has it that the actor is paying for his guests to stay at a seven-star hotel that costs over $1,500 a night. He has also flashed his celebrity card a couple of times and was reportedly able to land a major music act.
“The ceremony happening at a 14th century palace on Venice’s Grand Canal, the guests staying at a seven-star hotel where rooms start at $1,600 a night and the entertainment being provided by Lana del Rey. Whether that information is accurate is a wait-and-see situation.”
So, of course, George Clooney is paying for all of this stuff — could you even imagine asking your parents to pay for Lana del Rey? This wedding is probably going to be outrageous, and George totally deserves it. The actor has found love again (that is, if you think that this is the real deal for Clooney) after two decades (presuming he wasn’t really “in love” with anyone since his wife, Talia Balsam).
The past couple of days have been nothing but a huge party for George, who is hosting some of his best friends in Italy (he has a home on Lake Como). His best man arrived in style with tons of tequila to boot. Rande Gerber and George Clooney go way back, and Gerber was seen boarding a private jet with tons of booze late last week. Clearly he’s going to give his buddy the ultimate bachelor party… and that may last days.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there was some speculation that George would ask Brad Pitt to be his best man, but that didn’t happen. Brad and his wife Angelina Jolie are expected to attend the wedding, however. Chances are they wouldn’t miss it for the world (even though they kind of already have the world… Just go with it).
Are you excited for George Clooney’s wedding? Do you think it’s going to be totally extravagant or will George keep things more traditional and on the simple side?
