Fans are hungry for the upcoming two-part finale of The Hunger Games . Set to open November 21, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 features Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Moore, reported the Guardian on September 21.
When the first film in what has become The Hunger Games franchise opened, Jennifer Lawrence earned praise for portraying a strong, fearless young woman in her role as action heroine Katniss. Although it’s now become more common to see young women as heroines, the newest The Hunger Games movie takes the risk of an older, equally strong woman in Julianne Moore’s role as District 13 president Alma Coin.
Taking a role in an action-packed film requires more than a bowl of Wheaties for breakfast. Both Julianne Moore and Jennifer Lawrence, in very different ways, are dedicated to healthy lifestyles. And for Julianne, that means no more fad diets such as juice cleanses, whether she’s prepping for a film such as The Hunger Games or for a red carpet event, reported People magazine on September 19.
“I did a juice cleanse for the Golden Globes one year. I think I did it for three days. To be honest, the only weight I lost was in my brain!” Moore joked.
What she does do, however, is practice yoga regularly. Combined with interval running and lifting light weights, Moore stays in prime shape for the prime role of Alma in The Hunger Games .
For Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games has served as a catalyst for her career. And it’s also helped her little sister Willow Shields, who landed her own role, reported InStyle on September 19.
Shields plays Primrose Everdeen in The Hunger Games . It’s helped that she can turn to her sister Jennifer Lawrence as a role model.
“[Jennifer Lawrence has] done a great job of supporting me in a way that helps to keep my life balanced while staying grounded like she is. Jen has an Oscar and she’s one of the most famous people in the world, but she’s still super humble and down to earth. She’s really taught me to stay that way.”
When Jennifer Lawrence first appeared in The Hunger Games , she claimed that she never dieted or exercised. But her personal trainer revealed that the actress immersed herself in working out for her role as Katniss Everdeen.
Dr. Joe Horrigan is a chiropractic sports medicine specialist who trained the actress to take on the daring feats with discipline. He told Teen Vogue that Jennifer Lawrence climbed trees and rocks, took archery lessons and, just like Julianne Moore, did sprints.
If you want to look like Katniss in The Hunger Games , Dr. Horrigan suggests “running, cycling (road, mountain, classes, or simply a regular stationary bike), or various aerobic classes such as dance classes and hiking.”
So what can you expect in The Hunger Games as it comes to an end? As The Inquisitr reported, lots of drama, great dialog and, of course, Katniss conquering the world.
