Schwarzenegger Museum Unveils Mr. Olympia Statue

Now that his governor days are over, Arnold Schwarzenegger can get back to what he does best. Unveiling statues. Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled a new bronze statue during the official inauguration of the Schwarzenegger Museum in Austria.

The Schwarzenegger Museum, which is in the village of Thal where Arnold grew up, includes several significant items from the body builder / actor / politician’s life. The LA Times reports that the museum includes Arnold’s first barbell, his wood governor’s desk, and life-size models of the Terminator characters.

Arnold said that he hopes the museum will provide young people with a model for success.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said:

“My personal success has less to do with millions of dollars or with the headlines in the media that are not always positive… Personal success is the result of determination, hard work and stubbornness. For me, this is not only a museum. It is also a symbol of will … everyone has a chance.”

Hundreds of people braved the rain for a chance to see the Governator standing next to his bronze statue. Schwarzenegger attended the event with Patrick, his son with soon to be ex-wife Maria Shriver. The two are divorcing, but the museum is still displaying photos of Schwarzenegger and Shriver in happier times. Arnold commented that he will remember his marriage to Shriver with “great fondness.”

Boston notes that Schwarzenegger has gained a loyal following in Austria for his many accomplishments, but many people still do not view Mr. Universe in a flattering light. Schwarzenegger’s reputation was partly tarnished when news broke that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage. Schwarzenegger was also criticized for supporting the war in Iraq and the death penalty.

Do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger’s life should be used as a model of success? Will visitors of the Schwarzenegger Museum be inspired to greatness?
