‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers: Sally Pressman Joins Cast, Might Play Elsa And Anna’s Mother

Once Upon a Time has added yet another blonde beauty to its ever-expending cast — Army Wives star Sally Pressman is playing a mystery character on the ABC show.

The actress tweeted that she recently filmed some scenes for Once, and showrunner Adam Horowitz responded by saying that he was “thrilled” to have her on the show.

Pressman didn’t reveal who she’s playing on Once Upon a Time, but she did drop a few hints about her role. It’s obvious that her character only shot a few scenes, and her mention of wearing a gown is an indication that she appeared in a fairy tale world like the Enchanted Forest or Arendelle, the home of Frozen sisters Elsa and Anna.

Another hint about Sally Pressman’s character might lie in a TV Line report. According to Matt Webb Mitovich, Once Upon a Time was recently casting “a blue-eyed blonde in her late 20s/early 30s” for the role of a “strong, intelligent and beautiful” woman. The character was described as the middle of three sisters, and the report revealed that the three of them will head off to a ball during Episode 7.

Pressman definitely has the right look for this role, and she’s also in the right age range. But who are these sisters?

The first half of Season 4 of Once Upon a Time is going to focus on the characters from Disney’s Frozen, so it’s very likely that Pressman’s character has some connection to Elsa and Anna. And because the show was only looking to cast one of three sisters, this means that the other two characters have already been cast.

Sally Pressman looks like she could be related to Georgina Haig and Elizabeth Lail, the actresses playing Elsa and Anna. Perhaps she’ll play the sisters’ deceased mother in a flashback. There’s a theory that Elizabeth Mitchell is playing a Snow Queen with icy powers similar to those of Elsa, so perhaps Mitchell’s character is also one of the three sisters — it would make sense for Elsa’s icy magic to run in the family.

Elsa and Anna’s other aunt might be Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten). Entertainment Weekly reports that Regina’s old pal is probably going to be the Big Bad during the second half of Season 4, and Bauer van Straten looks like she could be related to Elizabeth Mitchell and Sally Pressman.

Elsa and Anna might be thrilled to find out that they have two aunts, but the sisters could end up being sorely disappointed after meeting their family members. Kristin Bauer van Straten’s Maleficent lacked the softer side of the dark fairy that Angelina Jolie brought to the character in Maleficent, and she was a zombie the last time viewers saw her on Once Upon a Time. Adam Horowitz recently told Entertainment Weekly that Elizabeth Mitchell’s character is also going to be a villain.

“For the first time, we’re showing a villainous side to Elizabeth Mitchell. There’s a dark side that Elizabeth is accessing and she’s doing so in chilling fashion. When you see her character, it will be everything you wanted her to be.”

Sally Pressman’s character sounds a lot like Anna because she’s described as someone who “always puts her sisters first.” However, letting her siblings act like spoiled brats probably wasn’t the best idea — now they’re both powerful forces of evil.
