Billy Bob Thornton’s Daughter, Amanda Brumfield, Gets 20-Years in Prison For Killing 1-Year-Old Girl
Billy Bob Thornton’s estranged daughter, Amanda Brumfield, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a 1-year-old girl who was in her care.
Reuters reports that Brumfield, 32, was convicted in May for the aggravated manslaughter of Olivia Madison Garcia, the daughter of one of Brumfield’s closest friends, Heather Murphy.
Murphy told reporters after Brumfield was sentenced:
“None of it satisfies me. It doesn’t matter … I won’t ever see Olivia again.”
Brumfield was born during Thornton’s first marriage in 1978. Thornton has been married four times since then. The Academy Award winning actor said that he wasn’t around for Brumfield’s childhood, but the two reconnected later in life.
In 2005 Thornton said:
“She didn’t grow up with me, and so we were pretty much strangers for years. Then a few years later, we reconnected, and it’s really good now.”
But after Brumfield’s arrest in 2009, Thorton’s publicist came out to say that the actor “has had no contact with her for quite some time.”
During her trial, Brumfield argued that Olivia fell out of her playpen and hit her head, but prosecutors said that it was “impossible” for the fall to cause the three-and-a-half-inch fracture in the girl’s skull, and that the girl’s death was no accident.
Brumfield was convicted of aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was acquitted of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
CBS reports that Brumfield is Billy Bob Thornton’s oldest daughter. Her mother is Melissa Lee Gatlin, who was Thornton’s first wife. The two were married from 1978 to 1980.
Do you believe Billy Bob Thornton when he says that he hasn’t talked to Amanda Brumfield in years?
