Detroit is America’s Most Dangerous City
Detroit, Michigan, where murder is almost a daily occurrence or 1,111 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, is the most dangerous city in America, according to Forbes.
To compile the list of America’s Most Dangerous City, Forbes used the FBI’s uniform crime report for 2010 which tallies crime data for each of the country’s metropolitan areas.. The crime-fighting agency uses four categories of violent crimes, namely: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
Despite the impression that poor economic conditions can lead to more crimes, violent crimes for the past four years have actually dipped according to the FBI. For example, murder was down by 4%, rape by 5%, robbery by 10% and aggravated assault by 4%.
