UVA Student Missing: Update On Hannah Graham’s Disappearance
An 18-year-old UVA student remains missing. However, authorities have released new information about Hannah Elizabeth Graham’s disappearance. A spokesperson with the Charlottesville Police Department confirmed Hannah was last seen walking west on Preston Avenue near McGrady’s Irish Pub.
On Friday evening, the teen was invited to a party at a friend’s house. As reported by My Fox 8, surveillance footage confirms she left her apartment at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Hannah’s friends stated that she arrived at the party and had several drinks. Although she was reportedly intoxicated, the teen left the party to walk home alone.
Surveillance footage confirms Hannah walked past McGrady’s Irish Pub at 12:46 a.m. on Saturday. Forty-five minutes later, she sent a text message stating that she was lost. She was never heard from or seen again.
Hannah Graham is described a 5-foot-11 with a slim build. She has shoulder-length light brown hair, blue eyes, and freckles. The missing UVA student was last seen wearing a silver and black crop top and black jeans.
Charlottesville Police Department Captain Gary Pleasants said he does not suspect foul play. However, he is “deeply concerned” for Hannah’s welfare. Although he did not provide specific details, Captain Pleasants said there is no indication “that she got in a car with anyone” or was abducted.
As reported by WDBJ 7, the community is in shock. Classmate Selin Ulkautam said she “was terrified” when she heard the news. Selin is concerned, as she has “walked home alone” on numerous occasions.
Justin Morris, who also attends UVA, said the area is frequented by college students, as there are parties there “all the time.”
University of Virginia president Teresa A. Sullivan said the university and the community are “united… in deep concern” for the missing UVA student.
“Our University Police Department was notified of the report Sunday evening, and… has contacted all students, faculty and staff to make them aware of the situation. Our Office of Student Affairs has provided this information to parents as well.”
As reported by Daily News, authorities conducted an extensive search of the area. Although they dispatched bloodhounds to assist in the search, they were unable to turn up “anything useful.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information about Hannah Graham to contact the Charlottesville Police Department at (434) 970-3280. Officers are specifically seeking any information about Hannah’s whereabouts on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Captain Gary Pleasants said detectives are currently investigating the missing UVA student’s bank account, cell phone, and computer records. Unfortunately, they have no idea what happened to Hannah Graham.
