WWE News: Steve Austin’s Return To WWE Starting To Become A Reality?
Amidst all of the bad news with WWE 2K15 getting delayed on next-generation consoles, CM Punk still not with the company and Daniel Bryan’s recovery from surgery ongoing, good news came out today in the form of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
A previous story from on the Inquisitr reported that Stone Cold Steve Austin commented on the possibility of a comeback for WrestleMania 31 or WrestleMania 32. A comeback match at 31 was very unlikely, because it is only six months away. That seems like a long time, but for somebody like Austin, he needs full 10 months or full calendar year to build his return.
Remember, Austin is one of the best WWE superstars in history. When he does return, because in all likelihood he will, it will be reminiscent of the Rock’s return a few years ago. As for new speculation, the rumor is gaining traction that Austin and the WWE will be working together in the near future.
“It was speculated on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that there may be something brewing between Steve Austin and WWE because of how they plugged his podcast on last night’s RAW. While WWE’s website promoted Chris Jericho‘s recent podcast with Triple H, it was not promoted on RAW like Austin’s podcast with Kevin Nash was last night.”
Let me stress the fact that nothing is confirmed. Austin didn’t say he was returning, nor did the WWE comment on the situation. This is only a rumor, but more fuel is being added to the fire. Besides, who would really complain about Austin returning for one more match?
The marks who get mad when a part-time guy comes back will be furious, but out of the general population that watches the WWE, 95 percent of people will jump for joy when that glass shatters one more time. Austin is a legend that will stand the test of time. Just like the Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, John Cena and the Rock, Austin has his own place in history as one of the greats.
To shoot down a previous rumor that began with Hulk Hogan complaining about Austin, those two will not wrestle each other. Nobody wants to see Hogan wrestle in the first place, let alone against Stone Cold. Who do the people want Austin to face if he returns? John Cena wouldn’t be a bad idea, nor would the Rock. One man stands above the rest though if Austin wants to wrestle, and that name is CM Punk.
Unfortunately, he won’t be coming back for anything but a miraculous change of heart. Stone Cold did say on record that he had an interest of wrestling Punk. Chances are that will never happen. It’s always good to dream, right? If WWE wants to capitalize on an Austin comeback, bring back Punk. Who cares about the money? They just gave Brock Lesnar $5 million for 24 dates.
CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin needs to happen before it is too late. I’ll be the mark thinking that it will happen eventually. WWE isn’t stupid and nobody ignores the dollar. Nobody.
