Justin Bieber & Cody Simpson Tease New Photo Shoot Ahead Of Album Drop
Less than 24 hours after news that Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson’s first single off their November-dropping duets album will go to U.S. radio “in days, not months,” the pair did a photo shoot on a ranch in California on Monday.
Was it for their upcoming new album? A cover shoot perhaps?
Hints that the boys were up to something filtered online yesterday. Then, early Tuesday, mutual manager Scooter Braun and Justin confirmed a photo shoot had gone down.

Great photo shoot today @nickonken @CodySimpson

Braun, posted shoot exclusives of the 20-year-old “Confident” and 17-year-old “Surfboard” singers to Justin’s Fahlo page, captioning one shot.
“Hung out with these maniacs all day. Great shoot with nick onken. Good time fellas.”
(Photo: Photographer Nick Onken, who directed the Bieber-Simpson shoot, has worked in fashion and Pencils of Promise, a non-profit organization which builds schools in under-developed countries and is supported by Justin.)
Hours later, Braun followed up another tweet from Justin and complimented both artists.
@CodySimpson great day. Big things coming

As reported yesterday, 97.5 Now FM’s DJ Josh Strickland was given an early listen to the pair’s days-away first single at Bieber’s Def Jam /Universal Music Group record company last week, and in his own words:
“I literally had absolutely no idea that I was listening to Justin Bieber, and when he [A&R] told me, I was shocked.”
Strickland promises, “This is a complete musical and vocal departure from anything we’ve ever heard from the Beebs.” He added, “The new Bieber/Simpson is real and it’s going to be here in days, not months.”
Fans of the two artists — who are pals — will know they have been hitting the studio since June. Cody’s interviews reveal he and Justin started jamming together as an experiment, but ended up “writing like 12 songs in seven days, working all night.”
No doubt there are still songs to write, finish and mix before their duets album drops this November, but last week Bieber tweeted that he was rehearsing. As did Simpson.
That continued Monday. It became clear more was afoot when Cody Instagrammed (later tweeting) a rustic shot of two guitars on a porch deck.
“Out on a ranch in California. Good day,” Cody tweeted with the photo, although his actual Instagram isn’t captioned.

Eagle-eyes fans noticed Justin creeping in the bushes in the snap, while others wondered if the two guitars hinted to the “#2guitars” hashtag both artists have used in online teases about their “cool acoustic project.”
Hours before Braun and Bieber revealed the Onken-directed photo shoot has taken place, Justin’s videographer and pal Alfredo Flores tweeted that he shot material on the day. This is likely to be candid behind-the-scenes stuff, possibly for future music videos.
That’s a wrappppppp! Shot some dope ishhhhhhh! #JB #CS

Suffice it to say, a buzz is building after months of teasing their “cool, acoustic project”.
In addition to Braun raving about Justin and Cody’s new music and 97.5 Now FM’s vote of confidence in the duo’s imminent first single, DJ SupaJames took to Twitter last night full of praise.
Got to hear the new @justinbieber @CodySimpson today at DefJam.. It’s dope! Can wait to play for you guys!

We’re interested to see more of the photo shoot, and of course, hear the debut single and new album. Cody appears to have read our minds, as the teen artist tweeted a new photo last night. As for how long, the Biebs answered that too.
Roll on those eight weeks!
