‘The Simpsons’ Halloween Special Details: ‘Treehouse Of Horror XXV’ Will Be Creepy Crossover
If you didn’t get enough of The Simpsons during the tidal wave of yellow that was the FXX marathon, don’t despair — this year’s Treehouse of Horror Halloween special will feature even more Marge, Homer, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, fans of The Simpsons will get to see bizarro versions of their favorite animated family when Treehouse of Horror XXV airs on October 19. The FOX series is bringing back the original Simpson family from The Tracy Ullman Show. The Simpsons shorts debuted in 1987, and they introduced American to a crudely drawn family with even spikier hair. Lisa was once a burp-loving brat like Bart, not a brainiac, and Homer had a much deeper voice.
When the modern-day Simpsons crossover with The Tracy Ullman Show Simpsons, things are going to get ugly. Producer Al Jean revealed that the ghosts of the Ullman Show family will be haunting the Simpson household this Halloween.
“We’ve implied that they were murdered and buried under the house, so this is expanding that thought. If people want a real Halloween bloodbath, they get it.”
The Treehouse of Horror XXV segment that features The Tracy Ullman Show Simpsons will be a parody of the The Others, a haunted house movie with the type of crazy twist ending that would bring a tear to M. Night Shyamalan’s eye.
This isn’t the first time a Tracy Ullman Show Simpson has appeared in one of The Simpsons Halloween specials. In the Treehouse of Horror XIII segment titled “Send in the Clones,” one of the Homer clones was the Ullman Show version of the animated dad. He even invited everyone out for “frosty chocolate milkshakes.”
According to IGN, this year’s Treehouse of Horror special will also feature a segment inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. And as The Inquisitr previously reported, The Simpsons crossover goodness doesn’t stop with The Tracy Ullman Show Halloween segment — fans are getting a Futurama crossover on November 9 on and a Family Guy crossover on September 28.
If you’re a fan of the Treehouse of Horror Halloween specials, you’ll be thrilled to know that FXX will be airing a Treehouse of Horror marathon starting on October 26, starting at 12 p.m. ET. According to the IB Times, it will go all the way until midnight.
Are you looking forward to seeing The Simpsons meet their former selves, or are you more exciting about watching the family interact with Futurama’s Bender and Family Guy’s Peter Griffin?
