‘The Fault In Our Stars’: Shailene Woodley, Fans Gear Up For Release Of DVD
The most buzz-worthy movie of the summer is about to make headlines again. The Fault in Our Stars is due out on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, September 16 and fans are already getting a look at some behind-the-scenes extras.
On Thursday, Parade published a bonus clip from The Fault in Our Stars: Little Infinities Extended Edition.
In the 40-second clip, the film’s stars give their perspectives on the film’s success. Shailene Woodley, who plays main character Hazel Lancaster, said:
“The universal messages were just so important and so integral for humanity these day… These characters are so young, but they are able to see things that a lot of us are too busy living our lives to see.”
Her co-star, Ansel Elgort said The Fault in Our Stars is “full of metaphors and full of really beautiful ideas that really make you think about life and love.”
The movie tracks the burgeoning love story between Woodley’s and Elgort’s characters. As described on the Internet Movie Database.
“Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.”
The movie, released on June 6, was a runaway success and took in $294 million worldwide. As Parade notes, that is a massive amount considering The Fault in Our Stars was made for about $12 million.
For another measure of the film’s success one can look to social media. As reported in the Inquisitr, The Fault in Our Stars was mentioned about five million times online over the span of several months. A social media metrics company, Fizziology, credits that viral buzz to John Green’s book of the same name. Ben Carlson, Fizziology’s president and co-creator, told Variety.
“John Green did an amazing job bringing fans of the book through the process of making the film and ultimately releasing the film… The film itself was so well received and anticipated by an audience that tends to be pretty noisy on social media.”
Fans are already pre-ordering the DVD and are using social media to share their excitement.
