Sofia Vergara And Joe Manganiello Share Sexy Body Secrets: Low Carb Diet And Bodybuilding

Sofia Vergara likes to be generous when it comes to showing off her assets in strategically cut gowns and glittering garments. But just how does the bombshell blonde beauty maintain that sleek physique? Meet celebrity trainer Jennifer Yates, who told People on September 11 how Sofia Vergara succeeds with a combination of a low carb diet and bodybuilding.

On the popular comedy Modern Family , Sofia Vergara plays a sometimes-ditsy, always-compassionate wife, mother, and friend to all. But when she steps away from the set, she’s regarded as one of the sharpest, most focused actresses in Hollywood. And Sofia Vergara uses that focus to flex her muscles regularly, said Yates, who owns the aptly named Studio Metamorphosis in Pasadena.

“We work out at least five times a week for 50 minutes to an hour, depending on her schedule,” revealed Yates. And she praised Sofia Vergara, adding, “She’s dedicated!”

Yates trains Sofia Vergara using a combination of bodybuilding and Pilates techniques. It’s a high intensity, low impact method known as the Lagree Method. At 42, the actress is so dedicated that she keeps the main machine for the method, called the Megaformer, in her home gym.

But don’t assume that all those workouts give Sofia Vergara the freedom to eat what she wants.

“Remember diet is 80 percent of staying in shape and being healthy,” instructed Yates. “Eat protein within 45 minutes after working out to let your muscles recover and repair, and drink lots of water!”

As The Inquisitr recently revealed, we are now in the Era of the Big Booty. And Sofia Vergara is celebrating it by busting her own booty moves, said Yates.

“She loves working the butt. We do a lot of squats and deadlifts and a lunges [on the machine], and we do a lot of things off the machine as well. Recently we’ve been combining some of the heavier weights for the lower body because she’s trying to put a little more mass on, so we’ve been doing a lot of work with kettle bells. She’s really strong!”

And Sofia Vergara definitely has an appreciative audience for those strong muscles when it comes to her new beau Joe Manganiello. He’s a bodybuilding believer himself, reported Socialite Life on September 11.

Joe worked out on his own at a Los Angeles gym recently. He then joined Sofia Vergara for a high protein low carb diet luncheon featuring burgers.

Just in case his new girlfriend needs any tips on diet and exercise, Joe is the one to give them. He recently authored a book about his dedication to bodybuilding and to a high protein low carb diet, entitled Evolution: The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You’ve Always Wanted .

He agrees with Yates that diet is essential for maintaining muscle mass while losing body fat. Joe Manganiello uses protein shakes for snacks, and follows low carb diet guidelines by featuring protein and non-starchy veggies for meals. A typical dinner, according to Men’s Fitness , is steak, asparagus, and a salad.
