Apple has officially gone live with its new iPhone 6 pre-order, now available on its official website. Online pre-orders can also be placed through Apple, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile, but that’s if you can get through — the first day of new iPhone pre-order season tends to slow Apple’s server down to a halt.

“When the iPhone 6 becomes available for preorder from Apple.com, you’re going to want to get through the checkout process as quickly as possible. Every second you delay increases the chance of the load on Apple’s servers being so great that when you make your order, it won’t go through.”
Thankfully, for those of working this Friday morning who might not want to risk our boss seeing that we’re madly clicking refresh to place a new iPhone 6 pre-order, basically every browser can support some kind of auto-refresh application — including Chrome, Safari and Firefox. However, it’s really not essential to order directly from Apple if you’ve already made up your mind about which carrier you want to sign a new contract with. Sprint and T-Mobile, though they have yet to comment officially, previously said that they would match whatever trade-in offer another wireless provider offers.
If you don’t have an older iPhone hanging around and don’t want to deal with any of the website clogging, you can also make a new iPhone pre-order from a traditional store. Two of the cheapest options are Wal-Mart, which is offer the iPhone 6 for $179 with a two-year contract, and Sam’s Club which is offering it for $177.
