Injuries are a constant worry in professional wrestling. Since WWE’s inception, major stars went down with injuries and the writing staff needed to pick up the pace. Guys like Stone Cold, Edge, Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton, and Shawn Michaels all underwent numerous surgeries for serious ailments.
On the optimistic side of things, injuries often let younger stars branch out and become more relevant in the main event scene. For example, Daniel Bryan’s injury let guys like Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose become more relevant to the WWE Universe.
Speaking of Bryan, since his initial surgery months ago, people are still trying to figure out the exact return date for the WWE champion. It isn’t a secret that WWE is becoming more impatient by the day, and reports are now circulating that WWE officials want Bryan back sooner than expected.
“Since Daniel Bryan does not need another surgery, WWE officials are hopeful that the former WWE Champion can return at Survivor Series.
“There is concern, however, for Bryan not being completely healthy and rushing him back before he is ready to go. WWE officials do not want to risk another serious injury with Bryan upon his return, which may cause them to hold him out even longer.”
Common sense tells people that rushing someone back from injury is dangerous. There isn’t enough time to talk about how many injuries Cena came back from way too early. Even Edge rushed back from injuries before and his career had to end due to countless instances of premature comebacks.
The good news however, is that Bryan’s wife, Brie Bella, announced that her husband will not require a second surgery. A second operation meant Tommy John’s surgery being scheduled to fix the UCL in his arm. Most often, pitchers in baseball undergo this kind of operation and the recovery time can stretch to a whole year.
Luckily for Bryan and the WWE, they don’t have to worry about that. Their internal worry must be how to use Bryan when he returns. There is no room for him in the WWE World Heavyweight championship conversation. Reason being: The Big Show is already in line to receive a title shot and feud with Brock Lesnar. If Big Show and John Cena can’t stop Lesnar, what makes people think Bryan can?
It doesn’t seem realistic, and the WWE must work out that problem before he comes back. Their priority needs to be getting Bryan back at the right time and at the healthiest of conditions. If not, Bryan could suffer a more-serious injury that will cause lifelong problems. WWE needs to be smart, or one of its best superstars may not be able to work, and nobody wants that.
