Duchess Kate Middleton Hospitalized, Severe Morning Sickness Returns
Duchess Kate Middleton is with child, pregnant for the second time, but not without complications. The Duchess of Cambridge was hospitalized after suffering a severe bout of morning sickness.
Clarence House, the official London residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, released a statement confirming Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their second child together, according to an EOnline report on baby No. 2.
“Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
Not surprisingly, when news began to spread that Will and Kate were expecting a baby again, outpourings of love on social media followed. One such tweet came from British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.

Kate’s pregnancy news is bitter-sweet in some respects. On the one hand, Middleton is welcoming a new child to extend the royal family bloodline. However, she’d likely prefer to do without the sickness that, at times, goes along with conceiving a child.
The duchess had a number of planned engagements, but was sidelined as a precaution, according to a press release on Monday. One such event was Kate’s scheduled attendance to Prince Harry’s Invictus Games this week.
“Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess of Cambridge is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.”
Duchess Kate Middleton was hospitalized for is Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the technical term of the morning sickness. The condition is accompanied by vomiting in some cases and nausea. Doctors treat the ailment with IV and oral fluids, a host of nutrients and certain medications, according to WebMD.
Recall that during her first pregnancy with Prince George, Duchess Kate suffered from the same condition on a number of occasions and had to be hospitalized at least once. Currently, she’s being treated at Kensington Palace.
With Duchess Kate Middleton hospitalized with morning sickness, it’s unknown if her planned solo trip to Malta later this month will be affected by her pregnancy complications.
Based on succession, the new baby nudges Harry down a notch and becomes the fourth in line to the British monarchy.
Sorry Harry.
