Royal Baby Number Two: Boy or Girl For Kate And William’s Second Baby?
Another royal baby is on the way for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Less than 14 months after Kate Middleton gave birth to Prince George, Clarence House shared the news on Twitter that Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting baby number two. While many are wondering if Kate is pregnant with a boy or a girl, there is concern over the announcement that she is suffering from a medical condition that is restricting her travel.

A press release from the Prince of Wales’ official Website states that Kate Middleton is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the same condition she had when she was pregnant with Prince George. The Independent states that this is an extreme form of morning sickness that often causes severe nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and low blood pressure. It is unlikely that the illness will affect Kate’s unborn child, but she is currently under a doctor’s care and had to call off attending an event with Prince William on Monday.
“The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess of Cambridge is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.”
Other than Kate’s health, royal baby watchers are anxious to find out if she is having a boy or a girl the second time around. If Prince William’s wife is indeed due in late April, that means she is only in her first trimester of pregnancy. Parents reports that an ultrasound performed between 18-20 weeks is typically the earliest the sex of the baby can be detected.
When is Kate Middleton due with royal baby number two? That information has not been released yet, but the Mirror reports that bets are already being made about Kate’s expected delivery date.
“Although the due date has not been made public, William Hill have odds of 16/1 that the brother or sister to Prince George, who celebrated his first birthday in July, will be born on April 21 – the Queen’s birthday.”
The royal baby bump will be under close watch over the next several months. The new royal baby’s arrival will not only create a media frenzy, it will also create a change in the order of the throne. According to the Telegraph UK, Kate and William’s second baby will be fourth in line to the throne, bumping Prince Harry into fifth place.
