Helen Mirren’s Response To The Fappening: Why Wasn’t She Treated Like Look-Alike Jennifer Lawrence?
Of course, Helen Mirren had a delightful response to the celebrity nude photo hacking scandal dubbed “The Fappening.”
Instead of complaining about the hackers violating the privacy of celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, she complained about being left off the list of celebrity targets.
According to the Daily Mail, Dame Helen Mirren made her amusing comments about The Fappening nude photo scandal during an interview with Magic FM.
“I kept desperately looking at the list of people whose phones were hacked, hoping to see my name.”
As The Inquisitr previously reported, the list of celebrity targets was posted on 4chan, and it included over 100 famous names. In addition to Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, the list included Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, McKayla Maroney, Kim Kardashian, Lea Michele, Aubrey Plaza, Kaley Cuoco, Selena Gomez, and Victoria Justice.
Perhaps the hackers didn’t bother with Helen Mirren because she and Jennifer Lawrence are practically twins. As Buzzfeed points out, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart just can’t stop talking about how much the actresses look alike. He pointed out the resemblance during an interview with Lawrence, and she responded to his random comment by calling him out for being unprepared for their interview. Stewart brought up the topic during a later interview with Ian McKellan, but the actor couldn’t see the resemblance.
However, Helen Mirren agreed with Jon Stewart’s observation. During an interview with ET Canada, she talked about looking like Jennifer Lawrence.
“She’s much prettier than I was. But there is a great similarity actually, it’s very true there is a similarity. We got the little fat cheeks that I used to have. As she gets older that will all fall away and she’s going to be the most beautiful woman.”
Helen Mirren might think that Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous, but she doesn’t understand why the star would celebrate her beauty by taking nude photos of herself.
“Who on earth would put nude photos of themselves on their phone anyway? That I don’t quite get.”
Maybe the hackers did target Helen Mirren — they just didn’t find any photos on her phone. And before you try to claim that the Dame is a prude for being anti-nude photos, you should know that Mirren has appeared nude in over a dozen movies. Because of this, she also has nude photos all over the internet. This could be another reason why the hackers didn’t target her — they were focusing on women who the world has not seen naked.
Helen called the hacking “infantile” and “offensive,” and she offered some advice for the celebrity victims.
“The best thing is to be superior and not take it too seriously.”
However, stars like Jennifer Lawrence have taken the hacking very seriously. Lawrence’s lawyers are doing their best to make sure that the nude photos get scrubbed from the web, and the actress plans on taking legal action against the hacker who leaked them as soon as the FBI can catch him.
Do you agree with Helen Mirren’s advice that Jennifer Lawrence and the other victims should just shrug off this scandal, or do you think that the women need to fight back hard to scare hackers from trying this again?
