Ellen DeGeneres Jokes About Chest Pain Scare
Ellen DeGeneres, as she is prone to, cracked a few jokes about a recent chest pain scare on her show.
On Monday, the bubbly host was in a show-related meeting when she experienced the pains, and 911 was called just to “be safe.” While DeGeneres says the response may have been out of proportion- the comedienne described it as “like one marching band short of a parade”- she also admitted she does not know yet what caused the pains.
She went on to describe her experience with paramedics:
“Then they come in with an axe. Break the door down. It was open. I don’t know why they did that. They came in, they asked me all the questions: ‘How are you feeling? When did it start? Family history? Can I get tickets to the 12 Days (holiday giveaway shows)?” All the questions that they would ask, but everything is fine.”
DeGeneres said she and doctors don’t “know what it is but it’s fine.” The talk show host committed to a vegan diet in 2008, and has talked about her healthier diet on the show. In addition to talking about it with fans, DeGeneres also has set up a special section of her website to introduce users to the basics of a vegan lifestyle.
DeGeneres also namechecked TMZ in her talk with audience members, mentioning how the site reported on her chest pain scare immediately. She said:
“I have a baboon heart that I had put in earlier…It’s not true… But I want to say thank you to all the paramedics and the nurses who showed up and everybody and TMZ for caring so much…I appreciate it.”
