Apple schedules iPhone 5 event for October 4
Well, it looks like all of that talk we’ve been hearing about recently regarding an Apple event on October 4, the month that rumors point to for an iPhone 5 reveal, turned out to be true; Apple sent out invites to “select” media outlets today for a big Apple event on, you guessed it, October 4.
Apple didn’t outright confirm that the iPhone 5 would be announced at the event, but they dropped a pretty big hint with a “Let’s talk iPhone” tagline included in the invite.
Considering that AllThingsD’s report that Apple would be holding an event on October 4, however, I think it’s pretty safe at this point to assume the other rumor about the iPhone 5 being revealed in October is in all likelihood true.
As previously reported, Apple’s upcoming event on October 4 will mark the first time Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook makes a public appearance since taking over the company’s reigns several months back – and with his debut also marking the introduction of the iPhone 5, it’s sure to be a memorable appearance.
Just what the iPhone 5 will be capable of is unclear at the moment, but there’s been speculation recently that Apple may introduce a smartphone that isn’t so much a significant leap forward as it is a minor upgrade. On the flip side, others have speculated that the iPhone 5 will have 4G connectivity, a larger display, and even more enhancements over its predecessor.
Either way, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out for certain.
