Watch: ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ Trailer Released

Sony Pictures has been releasing small teasers of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” for some time, but today they released the first full trailer of the english adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel.

Starring Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as hacker Elisabeth Salander, director David Fincher’s adaptation looks extremely promising. The intense trailer is padded by another creepy score by Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails.

Fincher, who has directed suspenseful thrillers like Seven, seems like the perfect director to take on the first film from the Millennium series. The trailer hits the perfect tone of intrigue, suspense, and tension, but it doesn’t look like Fincher is venturing too far from the path of Niels Arden Oplev, who previously directed a Swedish version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” in 2009.

But what can you really tell from a trailer?

Daniel Craig looks perfect as Mikael Blomkvist, but the real standout of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is going to be Rooney Mara.

Craig told MTV News:

“I think I knew pretty early on. I screen-tested with her a couple times and I saw exactly what David Fincher was after with her. If you read the books, she’s just spot on. Rooney herself is actually really rounded and normal — she’s not boring, honestly — but she had to bring this very broken human being to life and she did it brilliantly.”
