Did Taylor Swift almost have an uncomfortable run in with her ex-beau John Mayer? If reports are true, it looks like Swift was horrified when she crossed paths with Mayer after years of not speaking. As we reported, Swift wasn’t pleased that Mayer was eating in the same hotel that she was.

According to Hollywood Life , Mayer and Swift, who had a bit of an affair back in the day, were both eating dinner at the Chateau Marmont. The Chateau Marmont is a hotel and restaurant in Los Angeles that has been a hot spot for celebrities for decades. At one point Marilyn Monroe lived there, and in recent years Lindsay Lohan has been in and out of the Chateau. That said, it’s a huge paparazzi spot and both Swift and Mayer were photographed leaving separately.

A source told Hollywood Life that Taylor’s minor run in with John was rather filled with drama.

“When Taylor saw John it was as if she saw a ghost. She was horrified and, for a moment, contemplated leaving. Cooler heads prevailed and she acted as if she didn’t see him but she totally knew he was there and was uncomfortable.”

Twitter reacted accordingly:

Of course with the two photos of John and Taylor leaving the same location, it speaks a different narrative, even though they left in separate cars. That said, sources told Hollywood Life that they aren’t involved at all.

Of Swift and Mayer, the source told the site that they are “in no way dating, and they didn’t share any conversation at all.”

Swift’s PR is already trying to spin this one. Her publicist told Just Jared the following:

“Taylor was with Lily Aldridge and never saw Mr. Mayer at Chateau Marmont.”

Back in 2010 there was a rumor that the couple dated, which Taylor Swift confirmed on her song “Dear John,” which was a telling song about how badly she was wronged by Mayer.

Here are some of the lyrics:

“Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don’t you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?”

When asked about Swift in 2012, Mayer told Rolling Stone that the song humiliated him.

“I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”

The musician continued:

“I will say as a songwriter that I think it’s kind of cheap songwriting. I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bulls–t.”
