Nick Cannon And Mariah Carey Split Confirmed: Cannon Is No Longer Living With Carey

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are no longer living together, and they haven’t been for months.

Instead of letting the world continue to wonder about the status of his marriage to Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon decided to address the divorce rumors during a recent interview with The Insider With Yahoo. However, he didn’t actually mention the D-word:

“There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”

Nick didn’t reveal whether he and Mariah Carey are going to try to work things out, but they’d probably still be living together if they thought there was a chance that their marriage could be salvaged.

Reports are already circulating that the couple’s divorce is a “done deal.” TMZ recently claimed that Cannon and Carey’s attorneys have been negotiating a custody agreement and property settlement for months, so maybe Nick was waiting for negotiations to end before announcing the split.

TMZ believes that an interview Nick gave back in March was “the beginning of the end.” During an appearance on Big Boy’s radio show, Cannon was asked to list off five women he’s slept with. Mariah Carey was unhappy that he answered the question, but the name of one lady on the list really set her off: Kim Kardashian. Apparently Carey wants the world to forget that her husband slept with a lowly reality show star.

Maria and Nick’s other rumored problems include the America’s Got Talent host’s busy work schedule. Even though the couple doesn’t need the money, Cannon’s been “taking every gig that’s on the table.” This means that he hasn’t spent much time with 3-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe (a.k.a. “Dem Babies”). It will be interesting to see if his absence plays a part in the custody agreement.

Nick told The Insider that his main focus is his kids during this difficult time. The last time Cannon and Carey were photographed together with the twins was back in June when the family snuggled up for an early Father’s Day photo.

After confirming that he and Mariah Carey are living separately, Nick Cannon denied reports that infidelity played a part in their split. There are claims that Carey’s diva attitude started to wear on his nerves, and, as The Inquisitr previously reported, the couple has reportedly been bickering constantly. Here’s what a source told E! News about the split:

“They have been living apart for a while. This is not all of a sudden. There have been issues between them for a while. They are not getting along. She wants to end it and it has been in the works for months, which is why her house in the Bahamas and the house in Bel Air are on the market.”

Getting on Mariah Carey’s nerves could pay off big time for Nick Cannon. If he and Mariah do divorce, he could walk away with a large portion of the singer’s $500 million fortune. The couple also has plenty of pricey property to split up.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon wed on April 30, 2008, and they’ve renewed their vows annually. They usually celebrate with lavish, PDA-filled spectacles in locations like Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower. However, this year Nick told Parade that their celebration was “low key.” Perhaps this was early evidence that their marriage was on the rocks.
