Robin Williams’ Final Message Of Hope Went To A Terminally Ill Mother With A Dying Wish

Robin Williams’ final message to one young woman halfway across the world from him was literally a dream come true. Long before Robin Williams decided to take his own life, he chose to inspire someone whose life was being taken away from her by cancer.

The woman’s name is Vivian Waller – a 21-year old New Zealand wife and mother. As of right now, Vivian is living in an Auckland hospice – dying from bowel, liver and lung cancer. After she was diagnosed with the illnesses that would knowingly take her life, she decided to create a bucket list – or more like a wish list – of five different things that she wanted to do before she died. Meeting Robin Williams was featured on that list in addition to getting married to now-husband Jack Waller, celebrating her own 21at birthday and celebrating her daughter Sophie’s first birthday as well.

Even though she was too sick to travel to the United States to meet Robin, he decided to reach out to her with a quick video message. Robin Williams’ final message to her – although very brief – is still very profound when you take into consideration everything that Robin Williams was clearly going through at the time he sent it. Although he was severely depressed and was suffering from the early stages of Parkinson’s disease, Robin Williams’ final message to Vivian Waller was one of inspiration, hope and unconditional love.

In Robin Williams’ final message, he started off by simply saying:

Hi, Vivian – it’s Robin Williams here saying, ‘Hey, girl! What’s going on down there in New Zealand?’ I’m sending all my love to you, Jack and Sophie. Knock this off your bucket list.

Robin Williams then starting “channeling Matthew McConaughey” with a hilarious impersonation. Robin Williams’ final message of hope then closed out with a simple yet profound expression, “Much love to you baby.” You can watch the full video here directly on the Stuff.co.nz website.

Keep in mind that Robin had never met Vivian Waller, her husband Jack or their daughter Sophie before in the past. However, one of her closest friends reached out to him in order to make sure he knew that he was featured on her dying wish list. Therefore, Robin Williams’ final message to her required him to put on a happy face yet again and do what he had already been doing for decades in so many other ways – put his own personal sadness in the background so that he could place someone else’s need for happiness at center stage.

There have been so many things stated about the life and death of Robin Williams over the past week since he committed suicide in his bedroom. Many people have paid tribute to him with memorials, movie montages, memorable movie quotes and more. On the other hand, quite a few people have had an opposite reaction to how he died. However, putting aside the circumstances of his death for a moment, Robin Williams’ final message to this dying woman should help us all to appreciate just a little more what Mr. Williams did for others while he was still alive.
