CM Punk And AJ Lee: Diva Quitting The WWE After SummerSlam 2014 To Have Kids?
The rumors surrounding CM Punk and AJ Lee keep on getting crazier, with some people claiming the WWE Diva will quit wrestling after the SummerSlam 2014 results had her losing to Paige. But is that even possible or are people just blowing smoke?
In a related report by The Inquisitr, Twitter went bonkers lately by suggesting that Phil Brooks was in trouble with the law and tweets began talking about seeing CM Punk arrested. It was also recently revealed that the WWE almost fired AJ Lee back in 2013 and it’s possible the WWE management is considering a lawsuit against Punk for failing to meet the full terms of his contract.
Shortly after the Divas match at SummerSlam 2014 was over, people began speculating AJ Lee would quit. For example, a website called TWNP News reported:
“Paige defeated AJ Lee in the second match of tonight’s pay-per-view to become the new WWE Divas Champion. This is Paige’s second run with the title. With rumors that AJ could be looking to distance herself from WWE and start a family with husband CM Punk, this certainly adds to the speculation.”
Even wrestling forums began discussing the rumor, with comments saying that “AJ Lee is quitting WWE” and “she’s throwing away her career to give CM Punk kids.”
The origin of this rumor is not mentioned but it does not seem to have any basis in fact. Before CM Punk and AJ Lee started their honeymoon in Hawaii it was rumored that she was pregnant, but obviously that idea is false since even her WWE character is not crazy enough to wrestle while carrying a baby. In addition, AJ Lee’s WWE contract does not expire until 2015 and we already knows she’s scheduled for Night Of Champions 2014.
The reason why these type of rumors persist is because we realistically have little factual news since Phil and AJ aren’t discussing their private lives and, shockingly, even Paul Heyman refuses to talk about what he knows about Punk’s future plans. Fans continue to hope he’ll return and there’s a good number of searches on “CM Punk SummerSlam 2014” according to Google. To give you an idea just how popular CM Punk remains to this day, most major WWE events still have chants of “CM Punk, CM Punk” and even his name on Yahoo was trending higher than Brock Lesnar, which is pretty crazy considering he’s the new WWE Heavyweight Champion.
Still, if CM Punk’s WWE return never does happen it’s possible they’ll want to settle down at some point. If talk turns toward kids you can expect AJ Lee to take a very long sabbatical, if not outright quit the WWE for real. CM Punk’s net worth is said to be around $7.5 million, so as long as they’re not big spenders the two have plenty of money to retire from wrestling and forge a new life together.
