WWE SummerSlam 2014: Live Pay-Per-View Results

Later tonight on August 17, 2014, the WWE will be airing live one of its most popular pay-per-views available only on the WWE Network, WWE SummerSlam 2014, sponsored by Totino’s Bold. It will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California heralded by their three theme songs, Lights Go Out by Fozzy, Goin’ Down by Flo Rida (featuring Sage the Gemini), and Sunshine by Teddybears. The “biggest party of the summer” will begin at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST with the pre-show happening 30 minutes earlier.

Historically, WWE SummerSlam was made when Vince McMahon decided to make pay-per-view specials a monthly endeavor for fans. With its initial pay-per-view happening in Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 29, 1988, this pay-per-view is now considered the “second biggest event of the year” right after Wrestlemania. This also makes it one of the “Big Four” along with Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series. It is also one of the original pay-per-views since the 80s that is still aired (which by happenstance is the big four as well).

Here on The Inquisitr, we reported numerous times on theories, predictions, and other news pertaining to WWE SummerSlam 2014. This includes a possibility that Stephanie McMahon may win her match against Brie Bella due to Nikki Bella turning on her, Hogan betting “the farm” on the Brock Lesnar versus John Cena match, in which there might be a possibility that Cena may take time off afterwards.

Results for WWE SummerSlam 2014 along with the kick-off show are shown below as they become available live. As this monumental pay-per-view takes place, we want to hear your opinions and views of before-match hype to after-match results in the comments below.

Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro (Kickoff Match)

The “Biggest Party of the Summer” will kick-off with a match between Mr. Pay-Per-View, Rob Van Dam, going against the King of Swing, Cesaro. The two former Paul Heyman guys will lock horns yet again as they prove once and for all who is the pretender and who is the contender.

Jack Swagger vs. Rusev (Flag Match)

The Real American, Jack Swagger, will fight for the honor for the United States of America as he faces off in a flag match against the Bulgarian Brute, Rusev. Over the past couple months, it has been a second Cold War as the Red, White, and Blue fought hand-to-hand against Red Iron. Now we will see who’s flag reigns supreme in the world.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (WWE Intercontinental Match)

Dolph Ziggler has been a thorn on The Miz’s side after the latter won the Intercontinental Championship in a battle royale after Bad News Barrett surrendered the title due to injury. Ziggler has been on fire for the past couple of years, in which everyone in the WWE universe has backed him up despite his losses. Will he be able to shut up the Hollywood superstar and truly show the world what he truly is?

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (Lumberjack Match)

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have been partners in crime when they were part of The Shield along with Roman Reigns. Now the “Lunatic Fringe” will take on the golden boy for the Authority in a ring surrounded by WWE superstars who hate both of them. Who will be standing tall at the end of this battle?

Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho (Singles Match)

The Eater of Worlds will take on the Ayatollah of Rock-n-Roll’a as they square off in a match to determine supremacy as well as influence over the WWE universe. For years, Chris Jericho has been promising to “save the WWE,” but it seems as if Bray Wyatt is the one who will do so by “following the buzzards.” In the end, will Jericho become buzzard fodder, or will Wyatt break like the Walls of Jericho?

Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns (Singles Match)

Orton and Reigns both want to pursue the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but one thing is standing in their ways: each other. Now, they face off in hopes of ending the hopes and dreams of the other. Who will be able to continue their pursuit for championship gold, and whose dreams will be shattered into a million pieces?

AJ Lee vs. Paige (WWE Divas Championship)

AJ Lee showed that karma goes around and comes around when she won the WWE Divas Championship in the same fashion Paige won it from AJ earlier this year. Now, Paige is doing all she can to get into AJ’s head to throw the current champion off her game. Will her plan work? Will Paige become a Divas Champion for the second time in her debut year? Or will AJ prove once again that she is the “Best Diva in the World”?

Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon (Singles Match)

The vicious war between the wife of the most popular WWE wrestler today and one of the primary owners of the WWE is hitting an apex as they battle each other in the ring. From lawsuits to arrests, Brie and Stephanie have gone through hell and back, but tonight, only one will bask in the glory of dominance. Who will it be?

John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

The Authority is upset that John Cena is champion once again because he isn’t the man who they picked to be the face for the WWE. Plan A (Orton) is a bust because of Roman Reigns. Plan B (Rollins) is a bust too because of Dean Ambrose. So the Authority has no choice but to implement Paul Heyman’s Plan C. Enter Brock Lesnar, the beast who conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. Will Cena survive or will he too be conquered?
