Christy Mack now begins the slow, painful journey back to a semblance of normality.
The Guardian , is reporting that Mack, 23, is still in the hospital after the brutal August 8 beating, allegedly at the hands of the MMA fighter known as War Machine, 32 (real name Jon Koppenhaver). Mack, who suffered 18 broken bones around her eyes, her nose broken in two places, many missing and broken teeth, a fractured rib, a ruptured liver, an injured left leg, and numerous lesions and bruises all over her person, will now begin the healing process with the knowledge that she is getting much-needed financial support. Once she is strong enough, Dr. Nicolas Toscano will begin the dental reconstructive surgery she will require, reports Hollywood Life .
“I’ve worked with the victims of hate crimes, with battered women, with gay advocacy groups,” Dr. Toscano said. “I was in the Navy for 13 years so I’ve always been about helping people.” Dr. Toscano and Mack have never met.
“I don’t know the extent of the damage, but from what I hear she has a couple of teeth knocked out and pieces of her jaw are broken,” said Dr. Toscano. “Christie is a beautiful girl and she had a very stunning smile and we need to restore that and it will be quite pricey but whatever it is it doesn’t matter.” The surgery required could cost in excess of $75,000, and could take up to a year to complete. Dr. Toscano is also not sure when he can begin the surgery. “It will all be dependent on when she gets out of the hospital and what medical rehab she needs to do first so that she is ready to get on a plane and fly to New York so I can work on her.”
Mack is receiving help from other sources, as well. Fellow porn star Kendall Karson has started a giveforward.com donation page to raise $100,000 towards medical and surgical bills. With 90 days left, the website has gathered over half the requested amount. Pawn Stars regular Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison has offered a $10,000 reward, and the adult toy company Fleshlight put up another $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Koppenhaver. Duane “Dog” Chapman, professional bounty hunter, is currently looking for Koppenhaver.
Mack is receiving support and assistance from all over. She will need to continue getting support and getting stronger so she can return to her life. There will be much, physical, mental, and emotional therapy in the time ahead. Here’s hoping Mack continues to get the help she need.
