Mickey Rourke Wears Vladimir Putin T-Shirt, Says: ‘I Don’t Give A F**k About The Politics’

Mickey Rourke may be better known for his acting or boxing skills than his fashion sense, but that hasn’t stopped the Iron Man 2 star from making a political statement, as well as a fashion statement, without even knowing it.

During his recent trip to Moscow, Rourke was photographed wearing a grey T-shirt with an almost regal looking Putin in a red army hat, surrounded by flowers.

The T-shirt, which was purchased by Micky Rourke at a GUM department store, is the second one he owns, as he also wore a white one showing Putin looking cool in dark sunglasses with some words in Russian underneath.

The New York Post reported that the first Putin T-shirt was so popular in Russia that it sold out in June.

But according to Rourke, he only bought the T-shirts because he met Vladimir Putin personally and really liked him. As he told the Independent, “If I didn’t like him (Putin), I wouldn’t buy the T-shirt, believe me.”

Micky Rourke also told reporters that while he is a supporter of Putin, his intentions for buying and wearing the T-shirts weren’t political.

“I met him a couple of times and he was a real gentleman, a very cool regular guy, looked me right in the eye. I think he is a good guy. If I didn’t, believe I wouldn’t wear the T-shirt,” he said.

As far as the T-shirts are concerned, it seems that Mickey thinks he looks really cool with President Putin scrawled across his chest, and for him the politics just don’t come into it.

“I have a Russian girlfriend, that’s all I care about. Her father is a good person, her mother’s great, her babushka’s wonderful. To me it’s all about family. I don’t give a f—k about the politics. That’s not my department,” he said.

Rourke added that for him politics is way above his head: “Me and politics are like night and day. I never understand it, that’s why I’m an artist/actor.”
