Robin Williams’s Wife: Susan Schneider Was Williams’ Third Wife, Married In 2011
Robin Williams’s wife, Susan Schneider, is “utterly heartbroken” following the suicide of her husband. Williams’ body was found at the couple’s home in Northern California. It has been reported that Williams hanged himself inside the home (not in the garage as some outlets have reported).
According to The Christian Post, Schneider, a graphic designer, was Williams’ third wife. She married Williams on Oct. 23, 2011. He was previously married to Valeri Velardi (1977-1988) and the couple had one son together, Zak, 30. Williams then married Marsha Garces (1989-2008). The couple had two children together: Zelda, 25, and Cody, 23.
Williams and Schneider did not have any children together. Schneider released the following statement after the tragic news went public.
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Robin Williams’s wife took care of him after he had heart surgery in 2009. According to The Heavy, Williams met Schneider around the time that he needed to have the risky surgery. On March 13, 2009, Williams had his aortic valve replaced. Schneider reportedly stayed by his side after the surgery and helped him through the recovery process. The two married a couple of years later.
According to Us Weekly, the two wed at the Meadowood Resort in the Napa Valley town of St. Helena, Calif. Several of Williams’ Hollywood friends were in attendance, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Billy Crystal. Of course, Robin Williams has been friends with these guys for many years.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Billy Crystal has reacted to the death of his dear friend by posting on Twitter. “No words,” Crystal wrote, hours after the news of Williams’ suicide went public. Of course this is tragic in and of itself, given that Crystal always seems to know just what to say.
Robin Williams’s wife is likely busy planning a funeral, and helping authorities with whatever information they might need. Of course this is an extremely difficult time for her and for all of Williams’ family and friends. This tragedy was shocking and unexpected, which makes the grieving process even that much harder to work through.
