Kate Upton And Justin Verlander: Yankees Ban Model’s Tigers Gear For ‘Sleeping With The Enemy’
Kate Upton and Justin Verlander have famously been girlfriend and boyfriend for a while now. Even though the supermodel is a big Yankees fan, the baseball team management actually forbid her from wearing any Tigers gear when watching her former fave team take on Verlander as a pitcher.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, rumors claimed that her boyfriend Justin Verlander got Kate Upton pregnant on the basis of some new photos that were not exactly flattering. Fans are now speculating whether or not she has gained a little weight recently or if she is really sporting a baby bump. Regardless of rumors, you can definitely tell her body has changed over the years after becoming a model since Upton’s teenage modeling photos make her look like a different person.
The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers were recently found on the field at Yankee Stadium. But another type of battle was taking place in the stands according to Upton:
“I used to be a really big Yankees fan, but I’m actually… sleeping with the enemy. My boyfriend plays for the Tigers. I had to pick a side. And I felt it, too, when I walked in and I — they specifically told me, the Yankees told me, they’re, like, ‘You’re not allowed to wear a Tigers hat, you’re not allowed to wear any Tigers gear.’ It’s like a bad breakup.”
Speaking of breaking up, the famous couple do have fights like everyone else, although in their case the allegiance to the baseball teams does play a part:
“He says any time we’re fighting I wear a Yankees hat, and when we’re getting along I’m wearing a Detroit hat.”
Who knows if this played any part in Verlander’s game performance, but the pitcher allowed five hits and two runs in seven innings, contributing to the Tigers loss of 5 to 1. Upton admits that some Tigers fans blame her for Verlander not doing so well this season, saying, “They always blame me, everybody blames me.”
Funnily enough, Upton’s Yankees love does play a part in a pre-game ritual that Verlander goes through every time:
“I like to be angry before I pitch. He didn’t tell me before. So he’d seem like he was in a bad mood before he pitched. So I’d be, like, ‘joke, joke, joke, joke, joke,’ trying to cheer him up. And then he got mad at me; he’s, like, ‘Stop making me laugh; I’m trying to be angry.’ I went straight to wear a Yankees cap.”
