Foxconn Building 30 Million Apple iPhone 5 Devices In 2011

Apple iPhone 5 manufacturer Foxconn has their work cut out for them, according to a recent report the company is expected to ship 30 million iPhone 5 smartphones before the end of 2011.

A source close to Foxconn told the DigiTimes on Thursday that production numbers are expected to reach 150,000 units per day with FoxConn producing 100% of those units in 2011.

Reports originally stated that Foxconn would produce 85% of iPhone 5 numbers, while Pegatron would produce the remaining handsets, however Pegatron will not begin building Apple’s next generation smartphone until early 2012.

Under terms of Apple’s deal with Foxconn the company will ship 5 million to 6 million iPhone 5 handsets in September, while fourth-quarter shipments will surpass 22 million handsets.

When combined with all other currently available iPhone models Apple will ship nearly 95 million Smartphones in 2011.

It is estimated that Apple will ship between 86.4 million and 95 million iPhone smartphones this year, making Apple the top global smartphone vendor by shipment volume.

All we need now is an official announcement with specs so we can determine if the phone is worth upgrading to in the first place.
