WWE News: Alberto Del Rio Released From WWE Due To Altercation With Employee
It isn’t a secret that WWE employees are professional athletes that sometimes clash backstage. A bond like Triple H and Shawn Michaels or Batista and CM Punk are are in professional wrestling. That said, getting into backstage fights are common in the industry. It sounds barbaric, but that’s the truth of the profession.
WWE released a statement a few minutes ago reporting that Alberto Del Rio has been released.
WWE announced the release ofAlberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee.
That comes as a huge surprise because his contract was coming up in the next few months and his conduct backstage can’t be said as stellar or professional. According to a report in 2013, Del Rio got into a fight backstage.
According to the Wrestling Observer, the reason World Heavyweight Champion Alberto del Rio looked so banged up in his match against Christian Sunday night, is that he may have been involved in a physical altercation with fellow WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre.
It occurred prior to the SummerSlam pay-per-view last year that may have involved other WWE superstars. He endured a black eye and bruised face after the incident. The marks were very noticeable on television, as hi-definition can reveal some unwanted marks that are purposely covered up.
WWE has had to get rid of multiple employees, including five NXT wrestlers last week and one long-time timekeeper, Mark Yeaton. That proves to the rest of the WWE locker room and the Universe, that nobody is safe. What comes a sad surprise is the fact that Del Rio wrestled a stellar match with Dean Ambrose on Monday Night Raw in a “Beat the Clock” match.
Many fans don’t like Del Rio, due to his lack of charisma. However, his wrestling ability is top-notch and his build as a top face at WrestleMania 29 was phenomenal. For the first time in his career, Del Rio was a powerful character on television. He got rid of Ricardo Rodriguez and went rogue as he faced Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight championship.
Wow, that was a really good match. That was the kind of contest Alberto Del Rio needed to remind us how good he can be. #Raw

At the moment, the WWE Universe might not miss his entrance music and cross-armbreaker. He had memorable moments with a lot of WWE legends, especially WWE Hall of Famer-Edge’s final opponent in his illustrious career.
Just like his Twitter handle suggests, Viva Del Rio. During his five-year WWE tenure, he is a former WWE-champion, World Heavyweight champ, Royal Rumble winner and Money in the Bank briefcase holder.
UPDATE:While the information for Del Rio’s firing is still coming in, F4WOnline.com is able to report that Del Rio was fired for slapping a Social Media Manager the night of Monday Night Raw.
The lead up to the confrontation started in catering, when somebody (assuming a catering staff member) asked the person (the Social Media Manager) to clean off his plate. The social media manager then joked about how that’s “Del Rios Job”.
Alberto found out and confronted him. The Social Media Manager didn’t apologize and then smiled at him, so Del Rio slapped him.
On top of that, AAA and TNA are very interested in bringing in Del Rio to wrestle for their promotions. The only thing holding him back is WWE’s 90-day no-compete clause that will have to expire before he wrestles anywhere. More on this story as it develops.
