Sherri Shepherd’s Baby Is Born, ‘The View’ Host Steers Clear Of Situation
Sherri Shepherd’s baby via a surrogate has been born, but The View star still reportedly wants nothing to do with the baby or the situation. This situation has been a mess ever since Shepherd and her estranged husband Lamar Sally split, and it does not sound like it will get better any time soon.
TMZ reports that Sherri Shepherd’s baby was born Tuesday via surrogate in Pennsylvania. However, it is hardly cause for celebration in Sherri’s world. She has claimed that her ex defrauded her when it came to signing the surrogacy papers. She has indicated that she feels Sally’s intent all along was to divorce her but use the child to get substantial child support.
Lamar Sally has made it clear he intends to raise the child, and he also indicates he will indeed try to go after Sherri for child support. TMZ says that when Sherri Shepherd’s baby was born Tuesday Sally was there, but she was not.
In fact, Sherri has made it pretty clear where her focus is right now. It has just been announced that she will be heading to Broadway to play the evil stepmother in Cinderella with Keke Palmer. Shepherd has been tweeting about this a lot, right in the midst of this baby being born in Philadelphia. She hasn’t mentioned the baby at all from the looks of things. Sally has been quite public in sharing details of all of this baby drama, as it seems clear either he or someone close to him is in frequent contact with TMZ. On the flip side, Sherri for the most part has been keeping her private life private.
As People notes, Lamar Sally filed for legal separation from The View star on May 2. He has asked for full physical and legal custody of the new baby. He also asked for “reasonable” visitation rights for Shepherd and asked that the court ensure she did not interfere with the baby going to him after birth. It did not take long for Sherri to respond with her own papers, and it was immediately clear she was not about to fight for rights to this baby. Rather, she is aiming to have zero rights and contact entirely, as of course she does not want to pay child support either.
Reports indicate that this baby actually has no biological ties to Shepherd, as Sally’s sperm and a donor egg were used. Many think that Sally has indeed been manipulating and playing Shepherd and deserves nothing from her. Others think that Sherri Shepherd’s baby is stuck in the middle of a crazy situation and Sherri’s actions in distancing herself from the baby are pretty low.
