Jodi Arias Death Penalty Update 2014: Judge Says Arias Can Represent Herself

Jodi Arias’ attention seeking tactics have finally paid off. Jodi Arias will be representing herself in court at her death penalty trial for the murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander. A judge approved the request on Monday, according to CBS News. Jodi Arias has been in custody since her arrest in 2008 for Travis Alexander’s vicious murder.

The death of Jodi Arias’ boyfriend made headlines in June 2008. That’s when the Mesa Police Department was dispatched to a home located at 11428 E. Queesnborough Ave in East Mesa, where they found the body of a white male with approximately 30 stab wounds to the body. The victim, identified as Travis Alexander, also had a cut to the throat and a gunshot wound to the head.

Alexander was found dead in the shower, after friends went to the victims home to do a welfare check about four days later. Police were notified that sexy vixen Jodi Arias was a crazy ex-girlfriend that Travis dumped in 2007 for being a real-life fatal attraction, but records show that the two continued to have casual sex.

Salinas, California, native Jodi Arias finally stated that she had to kill her abusive, sex addicted boyfriend in order to protect herself. Her attorneys presented the self-defense angle at her trial. Police say she killed her ex-boyfriend just after the two had sex. Arias is described as a sexy, intelligent and charming woman who has a dangerous side.

After Arias had sex with Travis and killed him, she immediately visited another ex-boyfriend who says Arias seemed happy and unconcerned. Jodi Arias met Travis Alexander in Las Vegas two years prior. Travis Alexander is described by friends and family as a motivational speaker and salesman who overcame a hard life.

Jodi Arias’ true story became the subject of a Lifetime movie based on the case. The Lifetime movie Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret, which was directed by Jace Alexander and written by Richard Blaney and Gregory Small, premiered on Saturday, June 22, 2013. When Lifetime movie fans and family members of Travis Alexander found out about the upcoming movie, they were disgusted and outraged, according to Examiner. Many took to Lifetime’s Facebook page to show their disappointment in the making of the movie.

34-year-old Jodi Arias was found guilty and convicted of first-degree murder for killing Travis Alexander, according to the Inquisitr. In the penalty phase, jurors must decide whether or not Arias deserves the death penalty. The case is eerily similar to the Dionne Baugh, Lance Herndon fatal attraction murder case. In that case, Dionne Baugh was an unstable lover who bludgeoned the Atlanta millionaire to death in his bed as she straddled him. In that case, the victim, who was found bloody and naked in his Atlanta mansion bedroom, had just finished having sex with ex-girlfriend Dionne Baugh.
