Pharrell Williams Set To Perform At NFL Kickoff
Looks like we’ll be having a whole lot of Pharrell Williams to look forward to. The producer- turned-“Happy” singer remained the reigning champion of the song that ushered us into the summer.
Now it’s being reported that Pharrell will be kicking off NFL’s 95th season. The singer is scheduled to perform at the 2014 NFL Kickoff, which is presented by Xbox. Williams will take the stage on September 4 for the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.
Pharrell Williams has been in the industry for years now, but he only recently became a household name after he dropped his collaboration “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk, and followed it up with a few really terrific performances with his single “Happy.” The former N.E.R.D. producer got major exposure on this year’s best award shows like the Grammys and the Oscars. On both shows, Pharrell showed off what became his signature look as he wore a giant hat that was an homage to Vivienne Westwood’s Buffalo hat-turned-Arby’s lookalike.
Throughout all the attention, Williams has been soaking up the limelight. As an artist, Pharrell has remained humble and even shed a few tears while being interviewed by Oprah. During the interview, the singer said, “Why am I crying on Oprah? It’s overwhelming, because it’s like I love what I do, and I just appreciate the fact that people have believed in me for so long that I could make it to this point to feel that.”
Of the song “Happy,” Oprah said:
“I really get it. I so now get why it’s so infectious because it came from such a clear space, that the energy was absolutely uninterrupted by anything other than allowing it to flow from heart to heart, and that’s what happens with you see it.”
Since then, he’s gone on tour with Bruno Mars, and has released his album G I R L. Most recently, the singer tweeted about his own tour that’s coming up soon.

As for his performance on September 4, Williams will join the likes of Soundgarden outside the stadium gates. Singer Ariana Grande is also slated to perform before the kickoff as well.
Currently, the Grammy winning artist is promoting his new singles “Come Get It Bae” and “Liar Liar.” While neither song has really broke out like his Despicable M3 2 song “Happy,” we doubt Williams is really worried. He still has a lot to look forward to.
