Megan Fox is clearly not mincing words when it comes to movie-goers that bash her new film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Michael Bay franchise she helped kickstart, The Transformers.
On Friday, according to The Guardian, Megan Fox attended a press conference in Los Angeles where Fox guaranteed that viewers would line up in droves to see the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot just as they did to see the fourth Transformers film, Transformers: Age of Extinction .
At the press conference, Megan said to reporters about anyone slamming her new film:
“Let me tell you something about those people, how much money did Transformers 4 make? Exactly. Those people can complain – they all go to the theater. They’re gonna love it – and if they don’t love it, they can f*** off, and that’s the end of that.”
Those comments made by Megan Fox are a bit stronger than the ones her former director and current producer Michael Bay used when fans backlashed against him after he announced the reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the first place. Fans freaked when Bay’s proposal to make the green quartet a team of “lovable aliens” surfaced, prompting Bay to respond:
“Fans need to take a breath and chill. They have not read the script.”
In regards to the comments Megan Fox made, the actress may be smarter than people give her credit for. After all, to date, Transformers: Age of Extinction has made just over a billion dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo . And though it’s a colossal money-maker, according to the Rotten Tomatoes movie review aggregator, the film rated at only 18%, with only 3.3 out of 5 viewers liking it.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – the current version starring Megan Fox – doesn’t look to fare much better in the review department than the latest Transformers film. Early looks at the movie have been given lukewarm ratings – like this one from the Boston Herald – but it doesn’t appear as if anything new is offered in the film that hasn’t been offered in previous versions.
The Megan Fox-fueled comic-based reboot will certainly get a boost by its trailers playing in front of the Marvel powerhouse Guardians of the Galaxy … but the big question will be, beyond ten and eleven-year-olds, will anyone care? How many times is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle exclaiming “Whoa, Dude!” or “Cowabunga!” entertaining?
Megan Fox and Michael Bay haven’t always been on the same side when it comes to these films. There was a time, not too long ago (2011), that Megan referred to Bay as “Hitler” (reported on here by The Huffington Post ), a comment that quickly received an admonition from Transformers producer Steven Spielberg and may have gotten Fox fired from appearing in Transformers 3 . Megan apologized for the statement, and apparently it must have been – or at least seemed – heartfelt, since the Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles features Megan Fox.
