Beyonce Knowles Speaks On the Elevator Brawl In ‘Flawless’
Beyonce Knowles is finally speaking somewhat candidly about the elevator brawl between husband Jay Z and sister Solange Knowles that made headlines earlier this year.
In case you’ve somehow forgotten, on May 5 TMZ released surveillance footage of a physical altercation between Jay Z and Solange Knowles, Beyonce’s younger sister. The trio released a joint statement which called the incident a family dispute and placed blame on both Solange and Jay Z. None of the three have spoken publicly about the incident since. Until now.
According to Us Weekly, 31-year-old Beyonce dropped a new remix single called “Flawless” via her website. The single, which features Nicki Minaj, was uploaded to Beyonce’s website sometime before midnight on Saturday, August 2. The surprise release isn’t what has eyebrows raised. Instead, people are making note of an unmistakable reference to the widely reported elevator altercation.
“We escalate, up in this b***h like elevators,” Beyonce says. “Of course sometimes s**t go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”
What Beyonce doesn’t address in the remix is the persistent rumors that Beyonce and Jay Z’s marriage is nearly done.
As Knowles and Carter’s “On the Run” tour winds down, reports have emerged that Beyonce and her husband are not as close as they pretend to be on stage and in public. The Inquisitr reports that lawyers have joined the couple’s tour entourage. Could they be there to begin the likely complicated process of a split between the music powerhouses with as little fanfare as possible? Reportedly Beyonce’s net worth alone exceeds $300 million. Division of those assets would undoubtedly take some time.
While Beyonce’s silence suggests the singer is eager to keep things as quiet as possible, that doesn’t seem possible. According to People Magazine, the couple has been appearing in public together at a restaurant in New Orleans. While the couple don’t spend much time on stage together in the two hour “On the Run” concert, both Beyonce and Jay Z’s wedding rings were conspicuously absent at a recent performance in Seattle.
Reportedly, tour promoters have become nervous of the rapid marital deterioration and were eager to release a statement before rumors spread too far. The statement never emerged. Sources with inside knowledge told Page Six the statement was never issued because communication between Beyonce and Jay Z has become so strained that the two couldn’t agree on a statement to issue. The tensions have reportedly led to separate hotel rooms for the couple, apartment hunting for Beyonce, and fears from promoters that the tour won’t make it to it’s scheduled September finale in Paris.
For the record, both Beyonce and Jay Z performed as scheduled this weekend. The singers performed the first of two shows at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
