Jon Bon Jovi Promises He Wouldn’t Move The Buffalo Bills, But Fans Still Wary
Jon Bon Jovi may be a villain in Western New York, but he wants fans of the Buffalo Bills to know the ill-will is misguided.
In an open letter to Bills fans, Bon Jovi stated that he has no intention of moving the team should his group win the bid to purchase them. Jon Bon Jovi is acting as the front man for a Toronto-based group of investors, and for months rumors have circulated that the group plans to move the team north of the border.
Bon Jovi said that isn’t so.
“I know how much the Bills mean to the people of this region,” Bon Jovi wrote. “So I want you to hear this from me: I’m not risking it all to let you down.
He continued, “If we are given the chance to be the next owners of the Buffalo Bills, I promise you that we will bring the same passion that you do every Sunday, every day.”
Jon Bon Jovi also stated that he planned to build a state-of-the-art stadium for the Bills and their fans.
He also said he is completely committed to the idea of owning a professional football team.
“My family and I are prepared to make this life-changing commitment to be part of the Bills,” Bon Jovi wrote. “This is not a hobby or an acquisition. Building a winner on and off the field will be job one and I intend to spend as much time on the ground in Buffalo as needed to accomplish that goal.”
But many are still doubtful. County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said this week he believes Jon Bon Jovi and his group would move the team.
Bills legend Andre Reed, who on Saturday was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, didn’t mince words when it came to the rocker.
“Man, f**k Bon Jovi!” Reed said in a story published in New York Magazine. “You might as well just take this city, throw it in the river, and let it go down Niagara Falls” if Jon Bon Jovi were to get the Bills.
