Human Ken Releases Doll Version Of Himself
Most children want to look like their toys, but some take it to the extreme when they become adults by having plastic surgery to look exactly like their idols. Celso Santebanes, a 20-year-old actor and model, did just that.
According to Metro UK, Santebanes spent £30,000 or more than $50,000 dollars, for operations just so he can look like a human Ken doll. He has had operations on his jaw, chin, and nose, not to mention silicon implants on his chest so he can look like Barbie’s boyfriend Ken.
Santebanes grew up being obsessed with the Ken doll. When he was 16 years old, he joined and won and modeling competition where his friends commented how much he looked like a Ken doll, and that’s when he first started his transformation to being Human Ken.
Now, Santebanes is coming out with his very own doll, which is a version of himself called the “Celso Doll.”
He said that he wanted to become a model, but he never expected to have a toy that looks just like him. “I imagined to be a human puppet, but one done with my image was something unexpected,” he said. Human Ken is scheduled to travel to L.A. in September, and his toy will be launched in his hometown of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
“I’m not a fake, I’m Ken. I’m obsessed with beauty. I always wanted to be recognized, appearing in the media,” he said. Reports say that Santebanes charges up to £10,000 for VIP appearances as Human Ken during special events such as children’s plays, weddings, clubs, and parties. He is also in negotiations with a huge fashion house for an advertising campaign.
It seems that it is not enough for Human Ken to look just like his favorite toy. He also wants to meet Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova from Russia, Mirror UK reports.
Despite already having achieved his dreams of being a Human Ken, Santebanes said that he is not quite there yet. He still plans on undergoing more surgeries to look like his toy counterpart.
“I think I’m 90 percent of what I want to be. I intend to do more surgeries, but do not know what. For now, my investment is being in the gym, for Ken is strong and I am skinny.”
Ligia Kogos, a celebrity dermatologist, expressed her feelings regarding Santebanes’ transformation and said that he is just like a reverse Pinocchio. “While he wanted to be a real boy, Celso wants to be a puppet, leaving behind the reality of what is defective and approaching an ideal of perfection.”
