Dustin Johnson: Fiance Of Paulina Gretzky Tests Positive For Cocaine, Banned From PGA Tour Six Months
Dustin Johnson has tested positive for cocaine and been banned from the PGA Tour for six months, reports on Friday indicated.
A new report from Golf.com claimed that Johnson had actually failed drug tests three times: once for marijuana in 2009, twice for cocaine in 2012, and again this year.
The 30-year old Johnson has already been suspended before, facing a ban in 2012 that was never publicized.
This time he took responsibility, saying that he was dealing with “personal challenges” and vowing to get help.
“I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced,” he said in a statement issued by his management company. “By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion.”
The PGA Tour issued a brief comment wishing Dustin Johnson well, but did not offer any thing further on the matter.
Dustin Johnson is also known for his engagement to Paulina Gretzky, daughter of NHL great Wayne Gretzky.
The couple has been dating for more than a year, and in August they took to social media to announce their engagement.
Johnson officially announced their engagement on Instagram, writing: “She said yes!!!”
But Dustin Johnson has also been suspected of affairs, Golf.com noted:
“Johnson’s conduct has long been a topic of conversation among close observers of the Tour. He is often seen in bars near his home in Jupiter, Fla., and is also known to have had a sexual indiscretion with at least one wife of a PGA Tour player.”
The cocaine suspension means that Dustin Johnson will miss the PGA Championship. The ban has reportedly been in effect for weeks, as Johnson last played in the Memorial in late May. Reports at the time indicated that he injured his back lifting a jet ski, but a source told Golf.com that he was really serving the drug suspension during that time.
