‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’: Watch Vin Diesel Say ‘I Am Groot’ In — How Many Languages?
The newest Marvel Comics-based movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, hits multiplexes August 1, and with its release on 4,080 screens, making the Marvel Studios space opera the widest August release in Hollywood history, and a highly favorable pre-release buzz — even collecting raves from normally staid film critics — the popcorn flick is expected to rake in a stunning $70 million this weekend.
That would make Guardians of the Galaxy the biggest moneymaker in the month of August in the history of Hollywood releases.
The movie is winning acclaim for its breezy humor, with a cast led by Parks And Recreation regular Chris Pratt, and also features a talking raccoon and a walking tree.
The latter character is portrayed, in motion-capture CGI fashion, by action flick icon Vin Diesel, best known for his laconic anti-hero roles in the Fast and Furious and Riddick film series. But he takes is man-of-few-words, or in this case tree-of-few-words, persona to a whole new level in Guardians of the Galaxy.
His character, Groot — the walking tree — has exactly one line, albeit one that gets repeated throughout the movie.
It is not much of a spoiler to tell you that that one line is, “I am Groot.”
Vin Diesel made an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, and Fallon asked him to repeat that signature line for the Tonight Show audience — in several different languages.
As you’ll see in the above video, Diesel was more than up to the challenge. So if you can’t wait until Friday for Guardians of the Galaxy, or even if you can, you’re sure to get a kick out this latest Fallon viral video.
Guardians of the Galaxy, as The Inquisitr reported earlier, contains an amazing cameo by one of the greatest characters in Marvel Comics history. It’s a SPOILER, so consider yourself warned. But if you want more details on the brilliant Guardians of the Galaxy cameo, click here or here.
The Guardians of the Galaxy team first appeared in Marvel Comics in the January, 1969, issue of Marvel Super-Heroes. A new Guardians of the Galaxy team, which forms the basis for the movie, debuted in Marvel Comics in 2008.
