MSNBC Segment Claims Global Warming Could Make A Real Sharknado! Really?! [Video]
On July 11, 2014, Syfy released a movie that would sound utterly ridiculous, yet has gained critical acclaim, accumulated a wealth of money, and produced a cult following. What is humorous is the fact the movie doesn’t even seem serious at all because it is about a tornado with sharks. That’s right! We are writing about Sharknado. Here on The Inquisitr, we reported on the cult film numerous times, including five facts that Syfy taught us with the movie, how despite its cult popularity, it didn’t do well with a box office release, and how its sequel dominated during its debut.
Now MSNBC actually had a segment on their live news show in which they claimed that a real sharknado could possibly happen because of global warming.
According to Breit Bart, Tamron Hall of News Nation on MSNBC interviewed Thunder Levin, one of the writers for the sequel. During their interview, Levin actually made it known that a real sharknado could possibly happen. Take note that he is not the first because Tara Reid, one of the actresses of Sharknado 2: The Second One, also stated a sharknado is possible. What makes this interview different from Reid’s opinion is that Levin explained possibilities on how a sharknado could be made in the following statement below:
“You know we just felt it was time that the world was alerted to the perils of global warming and bio-meteorology, so it was just a matter of doing our research and getting the facts out to everybody.”
So far, there aren’t any reports about the fallout or backlash from Thunder Levin’s words relating a possible sharknado to man-induced climate change. However, The Blaze does want readers of their article to consider the fact that Comcast and NBC Universal are the parent company for both MSNBC and Syfy. Therefore, they ask readers if the segment was sincere or merely some clever, vertically integrated corporate promotion?
This question is totally up to readers to answer. What do you think? Was the segment being sincere or was it a marketing promotion to boost hype for Sharknado 2: The Second One? Unfortunately, the video is only available at both Breit Bart and The Blaze, in which both won’t allow attachment. Please follow the links to their articles to view the video.
