David Guetta was apparently lost in space at one point during his Tomorrowland set.
Although nobody really seems to know what happened to the French DJ during his performance at the aforementioned event, but it’s definitely caught the internet’s undivided attention. After all, it’s not everyday that a well-known EDM artist disappears into his or her own little world during a set. Even if you’re not a fan of Guetta or his brand of music, his unexpected moment of zen is definitely worth checking out.
Everyone has an explanation for David Guetta’s odd behavior during his Tomorrowland set. However, it’s really unclear what was going on inside the DJ’s brain when he decided to have a staring contest with the camera. Is he contemplating how much money’s he’s going to lose as a result of his divorce? Are the drugs finally kicking in?
Here’s how the folks at Gawker describe Guetta’s moment :
“This is basically what happened to David Guetta at the Tomorrowland festival in Belgium over the weekend. About four minutes into his set he starts to look like a dog chained to a tree outside of a restaurant for too long. Then, as the livestream camera bores into his face, he stares dead straight ahead emotionless, as time perhaps comes to a screeching halt.”
Of course, that description doesn’t really do David Guetta’s adventure through time and space justice. Instead, take a look at the clip embedded below. You probably won’t develop any answers in the process, but it’s kind of fun to look at.
That video is certainly a blast, though the frequent shots of the crowd really diminishes the impact. For those who really want to get inside David Guetta , The Inquisitr presents the following animated GIF. It’s not going to give you the same trip the DJ enjoyed, but it’s an image that could alter your opinion of EDM. Though probably not.
Regardless of Guetta’s momentarily lapse into a hallucinatory world where everyone dances to the rhythm of their own unique breakbeats while trying to find an outlet for the turntables growing out of their spines, people seemed to love the guy’s set at Tomorrowland. Of course, these young, nubile concertgoers are probably on the same mind-altering substances that caused David to momentarily depart the physical world.
However, the EDM scene certainly isn’t without its critics. According to Stereogum , Tom Petty recently shared his thoughts and feelings about the genre. In short; paying to see someone noodle around with their record collection on-stage is stupid.
His exact words:
“Watch people play records? That’s stupid. You couldn’t pay me to go. I’m not oversimplifying it. That’s what’s going on. I don’t think it would be any fun without the drugs. It’s a drug party.”
Judging from David Guetta’s recent experience at Tomorrowland, he probably wouldn’t disagree with the drug party assessment. Allegedly, of course.
