Kristen Stewart Cheating Scandal: ‘Sh*t Happens’ Says Robert Pattinson
Kristen Stewart shocked everyone with her torrid cheating scandal in 2012. While deeply involved with her hunky Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, the young actress was caught on camera canoodling with her older married director Rupert Sanders, with whom she worked on Snow White and the Huntsman. Two years later, Pattinson is speaking out about the torrid affair. “Sh*t happens,” he said. With those two words, he has put to rest any doubt about potential lingering resentment and bitterness.
The actor, who is best known for his role as tortured perpetual teen vampire Edward in the Twilight films, spoke with Esquire UK about the Kristen Stewart affair among other less scandalous topics such as manliness, grilling and saliva. Regarding the cheating drama, he added, “It’s just young people… it’s normal! And honestly, who gives a sh*t?”
Robert Pattinson’s relaxed attitude about the whole affair seems to indicate that he has moved on. For the other man in Stewart’s tawdry love triangle, moving on hasn’t been quite as easy. As reported by The Inquisitr, Sanders’s indiscretion cost him a pretty penny in a divorce settlement with Liberty Ross, his former wife and the mother of his two children.
In addition to an impressive $23,000 in monthly support and possession of the former couple’s spectacular $1.2 million home in the Hollywood Hills, Ross will receive several insurance policies and fifteen percent of ex-hubby Rupert Sanders’s future earnings for life. It’s a steep price to pay for a few stolen kisses with Kristen Stewart. There was never any evidence that it was more than the frenzied public makeout sessions witnessed by a solitary paparazzo, but every action has a consequence.
For Pattinson, talking about the affair was reportedly one of the most troubling aspects of the cheating scandal. He compared the gossip surrounding the scandal to a scene in the movie Doubt, “where he’s [Philip Seymour Hoffman] talking about how to take back gossip? They throw all those feathers from a pillow into the sky and you’ve got to go and collect all the feathers.” He has a point. Two years later, he is still being asked about his relationship with Stewart.
At the time the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal first broke, Robert Pattinson seemed to forgive her. The couple remained together, presumably working on their relationship before finally throwing in the towel, reported Us Weekly. After much media speculation, they parted ways.
