GTA V May Add Zombies; More Casino And Other DLC Clues
Could Grand Theft Auto V add zombies via DLC? New bits of code unearthed from the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game point to that possibility along with new information about the addition of casinos and assassinations.
The release of single-player DLC for GTA V has been as hotly anticipated as the PS4, Xbox One and PC release of the full game. A member of GTA forums data mined the GTA V code and discovered this bit of code with the string: “main_ZMB.”
That’s not an explicit call out to zombies, but it is pretty close. Additional code shared on GTA forums confirmed that there will be more than one casino added to GTA V with at least three minigames – blackjack, poker and roulette. Playing with slot machines also looks like a possibility.
Other content seemingly confirmed by the GTA V code leak includes 12 new assassination missions, new missions for Trevor, and new missions for the IAA (International Affairs Agency). It also looks like new aircraft named Hydra, Besra, Miljet, and Coquette2 will be added, with possible new flight school lessons added as well. The aircraft also have prices associated with them indicating that they can be purchased in the single-player game versus stolen.
Back to the possibility of zombies in GTA V, the undead may be wearing thin on gamers or seem out of place for Grand Theft Auto, but there’s already an Easter Egg featuring one. Rockstar Games would have a good reason for expanding the idea into a full piece of content. Red Dead Redemption sported DLC that featured zombies as well called Undead Nightmare. It went on to become one of the best-selling DLC packs for a Rockstar game, thanks in part to a stand-alone retail release.
It would make sense for the developer to replicate that release, and publisher Take-Two Interactive would definitely be in favor of another multi-million DLC expansion for a game. This is particularly true of GTA V, which has sold-in more than 33 million copies worldwide and earned $2 billion for its publisher as of the end of March 31st, 2014. There’s also the big PS4, Xbox One and PC release that a recent Inquisitr article reported as a possible November release.
Adding a compelling zombie mode that will expand the game’s audience beyond those just looking to loot and shoot would be a sure winner.
What do you think of the possibility of a zombie mode in GTA V? Would it work or are you just ready to see the game released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC? Sound off in the comments.
