Peter Pan Live has found their lead in Allison Williams! The Girls actress has been cast as Peter Pan in NBC’s second live musical (the first was The Sound Of Music starring Carrie Underwood as Maria). According to Entertainment Weekly , Williams is beyond thrilled to have landed the role .

“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true. It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”

Peter Pan Live’s December 4 telecast is highly anticipated. This, of course is a huge role for Allison Williams, who is extremely talented and has a lovely singing voice. For those of you who don’t know Williams — or don’t watch Girls on HBO, she is the daughter of NBC’s Brian Williams. And just in case you’re wondering whether or not she can hold her own in a performance, check her out singing Hallelujah below.

NBC chief Robert Greenblatt is really excited to have added Williams to the cast, which already includes actor Christopher Walken as Captain Hook.

“We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan. She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls— where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent—and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”

According to E! News , there were several actors up for the role of Peter Pan , including Kristen Bell . However, the scheduling didn’t work out for many, and Williams was available during the times she was needed for rehearsals, so it all worked out.

Peter Pan Live has not cast the parts of Wendy Darling, her brothers John and Michael, Tiger Lily, Smee, and Tinker Bell. Whoever else is chosen will need to be exceptional too — last year’s first ever live musical event saw 18.6 million viewers, which means the pressure for the Peter Pan cast is most definitely on!

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Girls has been picked up for Season 4 . Filming around New York City has been ongoing for months, and the new season is slated to air on HBO in early 2015.

It looks like Allison Williams has become quite the rising star! Do you think she will shine as Peter Pan?
