‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 2: What To Expect With Ichabod And Abbie’s Relationship

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 is almost here and fans couldn’t be more excited for what is to come. After the series panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday, we got a better idea of what to expect this time around.

First things first, Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow will be longer than season 1, 18 episodes as opposed to the 13 in the original series. Fox is also bringing a whole new level of terror with new and scarier looking monsters, who will hunt our two stars Tom Mison (Ichabod Crane) and Nicole Beharie (Abbie Mills).

After the unexpected success and popularity with which Sleepy Hollow was received last year, Fox decided to go ahead and give the green light for season 2. The acceptance of the series had to do in part with the casting of British actor Tom Mison, who with his piercing blue eyes and accent captured hearts all around the world, in his portrayal of the time traveling revolutionary.

The chemistry between Mison and his feisty co-star, Nicole Beharie, made for many funny moments, usually created by Ichabod’s unfamiliarity with modern day amenities. That chemistry also leads many to ask, what exactly will the status of their relationship be in Sleepy Hollow season 2?

During the San Diego Comic Con panel, Beharie said that she would like them to remain friends and not move on to something more. Sleepy Hollow executive producer Roberto Orci talked to Entertainment Weekly about what to expect in that area in Season 2:

“There’s nothing like another good-looking guy arriving in the mix to suddenly make people realize how they really feel about each other.”

“Abbie is not a homewrecker. I think as long as Crane and Katrina are seeking to keep their family together, and as long as they’re in love—barring her coming under some evil spell—I think she would try to respect that relationship.”

Orci says that things could change though and they will let events take on a life of their own when it comes to Abbie and Crane in Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow:

“…But again, the fun part about having a plan is you can deviate from it, or you can be surprised by something that comes about naturally.”

Season 1 of Sleepy Hollow ended in a cliffhanger, which saw Ichabod trapped in purgatory, seemingly unable to escape. Season 2 will start with Abbie desperately trying to save his friend.

But we will also see a new character — who will peak Abbie’s interest — enter into the equation. As time has gone by from when the series first started, some historical aspects will also be updated.

Orci spoke of a special character that will make an appearance in Sleepy Hollow Season 2:

“Ben Franklin has a bigger role than we ever imagined. Some of his inventions, some of his discoveries, which you can read about in history, actually prove to be things that have a dual purpose—some of which will be necessary if we’re ever going to save Abbie, and if Crane is ever going to reunite with Katrina.”

Sleepy Hollow season 2 premieres on September 22. Are you excited?
