‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1’ Teaser Trailer Shows Jennifer Lawrence, Philip Seymour Hoffman

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 teaser trailer has finally been released to the public after the footage made its debut at the San Diego Comic Con over the weekend. The short clip shows Jennifer Lawrence, who returns in her role of Katniss Everdeen, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, as Plutarch Heavensbee.

The one-minute, four-second tease is just what fans were waiting for, although many want to see more of the first part of the last chapter of the story, which made its debut in 2012 with The Hunger Games. Two years and two movies later, we are ready to witness what will be the conclusion to Katniss’ fight for survival.

The Hunger Games teaser trailer is titled “Our Leader, The Mockingjay” and prominently features Lawrence, Seymour Hoffman, and Julianne Moore (Alma Coin). We see Plutarch and Alma discussing the feisty Katniss, “No one else can do it but her… We need to unite these people out there. She’s the face of this rebellion. They’ll follow her.”

From what we can see in the teaser trailer, it appears that we will be seeing a lot more of Seymour Hoffman, intentionally or not, in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. In Catching Fire, Plutarch has been pretending to be something he is not, and this time around his true motives will be revealed. For fans of the late actor, this promises to be a treat.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 teaser trailer also reveals what those who read the Suzanne Collins trilogy already know. This part of the story gets really dark and we can expect the same, and worse, for Part 2. As Katniss comes to the realization of what is happening around her, the feel of the story changes.

Jennifer Lawrence’s character becomes a unwilling leader as she desperately tries to save, first, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), and later a a whole nation moved by her courage. Under the leadership of President Coin and other close friends, Katniss becomes a hero to her people.

There will be no love triangle this time around, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is all about survival in District 13 after Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss shatters the games. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is seen stepping up his efforts to crush the rebellion.
