‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ Ratings Plummet: Will This Be The Last Season?
Season six of the Real Housewives of New Jersey isn’t taking off as well as Bravo would have expected. As a matter of fact, this is reportedly the worst season the show has ever had. On Sunday, July 13, the season premiere garnered approximately 2.1 million views.
While the premiere wasn’t a complete disaster, the second episode suffered a nosedive, declining by more than an estimated 500,000 viewers. The July 20th episode, titled O, Christmas Tree, had an estimated 1.6 million viewers, deeming it the lowest rated episode in the franchise’s history.
According to Radar Online, there are a lot of jaw-dropping details that have contributed to the show’s unexpected drop in viewership. However, last Sunday’s episode wasn’t the only upset. On Monday, July 21, several media outlets reported RHONJ star Teresa Giudice was reportedly banned from appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens with Andy Cohen. But, of course, inside sources have offered an explanation for the show’s rapid decline.
Bravo executives have reportedly stated Teresa is partially to blame for the show’s horrible ratings. As a matter of fact, its been rumored she may be on the chopping block. Bravo execs aren’t sure if Teresa is worth the reported $700,000 salary the network is shelling out this season. The insider revealed network executives are definitely not pleased with her attitude and her legal woes aren’t helping the situation at all. For those who missed it, the 42-year-old reality star and her husband, Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to a whopping 41 counts of fraud. They both are currently facing jail time.
“Bravo bosses are starting to think that Teresa just isn’t worth keeping around if her diva behavior continues. The network is very sensitive to the fact that she is facing a looming prison sentence, and has tried to work with her during this difficult time,” an insider explained. “Teresa should start treating the producers and network executives with dignity and respect. They don’t have the time nor patience to deal with her temper tantrums. Teresa should recognize her only source of income is from the show.”
Do you think the Real Housewives of New Jersey will make it to season seven?
