‘Batman V Superman’: Ben Affleck Vowed Never To Wear Comic Suit Again
Ben Affleck vowed to never wear a superhero costume ever again after he shot Daredevil.
Director and long-time Affleck confidante, Kevin Smith, made the allegations during his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con International. According to Comic Book, while Smith never actually mentioned Affleck by name in his anecdote, it was easy to see that he was clearly talking about the actor.
“Everyone I know who’s ever put on like a mask in a movie and s**t, they’re like, ‘Don’t ever do it. It’s hell on earth and s**t,'” Smith explained after he declared that at next year’s Comic-Con he might cosplay.
Smith then recalled how a certain actor once asked the portly filmmaker to never allow him to get into a suit again. He declared, “Ironically enough, there’s a friend of mine, who played a superhero in a movie, and he once said to me, ‘Remind me, if anyone ever offers me a costume movie again, I never want to do this s**t, because this suit is uncomfortable.’ The movie was ‘Daredevil,’ and the guy rethought the whole decision about being in a f**king costume and whatnot.”
Putting two and two together, it’s quite obvious that Smith is actually talking about Affleck. Not only did he play the lead in the critically mauled adaptation of Daredevil, but he has since reconsidered his request and decided to don another costume to play Batman in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about Affleck having some issues with a superhero costume though. Just last week news emerged that the actor actually has to get help from several assistants just to get in and out of the huge piece of attire.
In fact, a source even revealed that Affleck is struggling to give his full range of acting talents because the suit is so cumbersome. An insider told the Metro, “The suit is extremely restrictive. Ben finds it hard to perform basic tasks and struggles to look natural. He’s constantly trying to avoid going to the toilet because it’s such an ordeal.”
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s Comic-Con panel recently concluded this morning, and there have already been a number of further revelations regarding the hugely anticipated blockbuster. Not only has the first footage of the film been shown to those in attendance, but there was the first glimpse of Wonder Woman’s costume and Superman himself, Henry Cavill, and Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, made a surprise appearance too alongside Affleck at the event.
